Encouraging girls while they’re young

“Fewer than 3 in 10 graduates in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are women. And barely 1 in 10 actual engineers are women. Early in a girl’s life, the toys marketed to her are usually things that don’t encourage her to enter those fields. GoldieBlox intends to change that by teaching them while they are young that these fields can be fun — and apparently epic, by the looks of this super-genius 2-minute video. Watch and learn.”

Isn’t it time for books to do the same?

  1. I’m so glad you wrote about GoldieBlox and thanks for sharing these stats. The GoldieBlox building set I ordered for my niece just arrived this weekend, by the way, and the packaging is awesome. I didn’t crack into it, but I’m impressed by the box’s description, the quality look of the toys inside, and the many things my niece will be able to do with the set. If you have a girl to buy for this holiday season, consider GoldieBox for sure.

    • Rhonda, That is so awesome. You’re not only giving your niece a gift but also inspiration and empowerment! I hope she grows up knowing she can be anything she wants to be! GoldieBlox will be my go-to gift for all young girls – the gift that gives hope and build dreams!
